Léonie knows early on that she wants to become an architect and, after graduating from the technical university in Zürich in 1938, she interns with the modernist “master” Le Corbusier in Paris. The lessons she learned there influence her view of architecture for the rest of her life.
From Paris, she moves to Sweden, which at the time is known for its housing construction and emerging welfare society. In 1940, Léonie Kaplan marries the Swiss Charles-Edouard Geisendorf. With “Ched” she has three children and in 1949, they start an architectural office together. Geisendorf lives and works for 75 years in Sweden. Through many travels around the world, she acquires a vast international network.
