Gott kaffe!

The exhibition Gott kaffe showed examples of coffee roasters, coffee grinders, coffee pots and coffee brewers for use in the home but also for the early coffee industry.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, scientists, inventors, doctors and connoisseurs devoted themselves to the best way to produce the most healthy, stimulating and tasty coffee possible. Many different types of coffee preparation devices were tested. During the mid-19th century, almost all inventions for preparing coffee had been made. There was really only one essential one left: the espresso machine.

Coffee beans were previously roasted and ground in homes. Gradually, coffee began to be ground in stores, while roasting, the most important processing step for coffee, was taken over by small roasteries. It was not until the 20th century that it became common for stores to deliver coffee in a roasted and ground state.

In Sweden, boiled coffee had a long tradition, while the methods of preparing coffee varied around the world. It was not until the 1960s that brewed coffee became popular in Sweden.
